I just closed my first client by building an AI chatbot + simple CRM system for a business. Not huge, but the learning was big. What worked (and what didn’t): ❌ I didn’t pitch “AI chatbot” ❌ I didn’t talk about features ✅ I pitched this instead: “Stop losing leads. I’ll help you capture and manage every enquiry automatically.” That one line changed everything. What I built: AI chatbot to instantly reply to website visitors Captures lead details automatically Stores everything in a simple CRM Helps the client track and follow up easily What I learned: Businesses don’t care about AI They care about missed leads = lost money Simplicity sells more than complexity Demo > explanation (this was key) How I got the client: Reached out to local businesses Showed a quick working demo Focused on their problem, not my service Kept pricing simple for first deal Now I’m trying to scale this.
